Michael Wright, 51, of Winterset, died Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
A memorial gathering in celebration of Michael’s life will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, July 12 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset. Memorials may be made to the family.
Michael Allen Wright, the son of Warren and Bonnie (Dykstra) Wright was born on December 28, 1963 in Des Moines, Iowa. He grew up in Dallas Center and graduated from Dallas Center High School in 1982. After high school, he worked for Stine Seed Corn Company and later attended college at SWCC in Creston where he majored in constructional drafting. After receiving his degree, Michael worked as a structural steel draftsman for Iron Works in Des Moines, Middle River Steel of Martensdale and Parker Brothers Welding in Winterset. Michael also repaired four-wheelers, was a member of the Iowa State Pidgeon Association and during the Iowa State Fair was supervisor of the Pidgeon show for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with friends.
He is survived by his mother, Bonnie Sheets of Creston; his four dogs, Toad, Taggerdo, Missy and Rosie; extended family and a host of friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
