Kurt Cobain was and still is one of the most influential musicians of all time. He was the heart and soul of Grunge music as the primary songwriter of the group, Nirvana. The band has sold over 75 million albums worldwide and since, Cobain has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; moreover, Cobain has been quintessential in forming what rock music is today by making it more raw and visceral.
He grew up, the son of Wendy Elizabeth and Donald Leland Cobain and had a quite average childhood. He was always very artistic and became quite skilled at drawing, growing up around family who were artists themselves. Before he was even 4 years old, Cobain began singing and playing the piano. Unfortunately, at 7 years old, his parents divorced, and he became troubled in his teenage years. Drug addictions, domestic violence, bullying, relationships and spirtual uncertainty continuously plagued Cobain but also became the inspiration for his music.
After meeting bassist Krist Novoselic the two began playing music together in their teenage years with a multitude of different drummers. Finally after recording their first album in 1989 the band enlisted Dave Grohl who became the drummer for 1991's "Nevermind" which became one of the biggest albums ever recorded. In these last years of his life, Cobain was struggling to handle his fame, his continuous drug use and his marriage with Courtney Love. After getting sick at the end of the long tour, Cobain was found dead at his home in Seattle after committing suicide.
His legacy still lives on however. Kurt Cobain was and will always be in the hearts of musicians around the world.
