Emma Martinez

Emma Martinez, age 82 peacefully passed away at her home on August 17, 2010 following a lengthy illness. Emma was born in Dillon, NM on September 17, 1927.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mabel and Candelario Gallegos, Brothers Johnny and Gilbert Gallegos, sons Robert and Richard Martinez, and her beloved husband Eli.
She is survived by her children Ronald Martinez, Anthony Martinez (Annette), Stella Chavez (Freddy), Alice Maturin, Barbara Martinez, and Anita Halbig (Randy), thirteen grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother George Gallegos, Sisters Dora Carlson, Carmen Pilatti, and Margaret Martinez (Ben), sister-in-laws Edna Brown and Beatrice Martinez, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Emma was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held on August 20, 2010 at the Elks Lodge in Santa Fe, NM. The burial followed at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Open Hands Adult Day Care Center, her caregiver Patricia Romero, and Dr. William Leeson for the wonderful care that was provided to Emma.
