Biography


Virginia S. Gonzales, 78 of El Guache, NM. Passed away on Friday January 2, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents Jose Miguel and Teodorita Salazar, sisters Cleo Lopez and Lucia Garcia, and brothers in law Margarito Lopez and Manuel Garcia. She was retired from the Espanola Public Schools after 21 years of service. She was a lifelong parishioner of The Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Espanola, and a member of The Sagrada Familia Coro of El Guache. She was especially devoted to St. Therese The Little Flower, and was awarded lifetime membership to The St. Therese Society. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jose Celestino Gonzales of El Guache, sons: Robert Gonzales and companion Carmen, and Samuel Gonzales, both of Alcalde, Harold Gonzales and Celestino Gonzales, Jr. both of Santa Fe, daughter Dolores Gilbert and husband Chris of El Guache, and two much loved grandchildren; Victoria Gonzales Sanchez and husband Harold of Chimayo, and Rudolfo Gonzales of Alcalde, brother Salomon Salazar and wife Flora of El Guache, and sisters: Sadie Salazar and husband Pat of Santa Fe, Elizabeth Bessie Vigil and husband John of Albuquerque, Emily Maestas and husband Pete of Chili, and Laura Prando and husband Floyd of El Guache, and many other relatives. The recitation of the rosary took place on Tuesday evening in the mortuary chapel, and the mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Espanola @ 11:00 am, with Fr. Moore officiating. Mrs. Gonzales will be laid to rest in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that donations be made in her name to The Carmelite Monastery, 49 Mount Carmel Rd. Santa Fe, NM. 87505-0352.
