Vera White

Vera White, 93, of Winterset passed away Monday, June 18, 2018, at HCI Kavanagh House in Des Moines.
A visitation with family present will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m.
A private family burial will be in the Montpelier Cemetery, Madison County.
Memorials may be direct to the Patterson United Methodist Church.
Vera Davis was born December 12, 1924, in Moulton, Iowa, the daughter of Lloyd and Velta (Ransom) Davis. She attended school in Centerville, Iowa and married Robert J. White on June 15, 1947. She was a dedicated homemaker, raising their four boys on the farm. She moved to town around 1995.
She was a member of the Patterson United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Harmony Guild, Telephone Pioneers of America, and was a volunteer at the Madison County Historical Complex. Vera enjoyed sewing, gardening and canning her produce. She was a talented baker, her homemade bread and butter were a perfect combination. She loved fixing Sunday meals for her family and especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren. Above all else, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Vera is survived by three sons, Bruce (Pam) White of Patterson, David (Debbie) White of Adel, and Marty (Darcy) White of Clive; siblings, Doris Wilson of Moravia, Leland (Cora) Davis of Moulton, and Lucille Bird of Moulton; sister-in-law, Joan Davis; brother-in-law, Jack Fowler; five grandchildren, Thomas (Amanda) White, Casey White, Carter White, Jeff Wagner, and Robert Wagner; nine great-grandchildren; extended family and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert “Bob” White; son, Bradley Ray White; brothers, Roland, Don and Max Davis; sisters, Lois Fox, Leora Whisler and Eileen Fowler; brothers-in-law, Trenton Wilson, Don Whisler, and Neil Fox.
