Sara Schrup

Biography


Sara Jane Sally Tobin Schrup died quietly at her home on December 15, 2010. She was born in Wheeling, West Virginia and after WWII moved to Dallas. She had attended Texas Christian University and received degrees from the Chicago Art Institute and the University of Dallas. She taught painting and drawing in the Dallas County Community College District for 22 years. After moving to Taos with her husband in 1992, she taught for several years in the Art Department at UNM-Taos. Her parents, James Guynes and Sally Neff Tobin and her step-father, Charles E. Tobin, are deceased. She is survived by her husband, John, her two children, John Charles and Meredith Elizabeth and a grandson, Isaac, all of Austin, TX; her sisters, Judy Nelson of Fort Worth, Texas, Gay Rekerdres of Dallas, TX and Christine McDowell of Marlin, TX and six nieces and nephews. The family is grateful to Dr. Ellen Warren, Family Practice Assocites, Taos, Dr. Lisa Berle and Deborah Walker, Radiation Oncology Associates, Santa Fe, Dr. Timothy Lopez and Ieleen Garcia, NM Cancer Institute, to the staff of Mountain Home Health Services, especially to Carol Burling, R.N., and to Clara Mediola and to the entire staff of Holy Cross Hospitals Anticoagulation Management Services. Our sincere thanks to them and to Sallys many friends whose concern and aid helped during a difficult time.

John, Johnny, and Meredith,
I was so saddened to learn of Sally's passing. I remember her so clearly from my childhood and adolescence as being such a warm, supportive presence in my life.
