Biography


Roberta Lee Morrison was born March 26, 1928 in Casey, Adair Co., Iowa; the daughter of LaFayette & Hulda (Cass) Morrison. Her marriage to Ralph Dunmire took place on November 15, 1947 and he died May 28, 1957. Later she married Howard Clayton on January 6, 1980 in Nebraska and he also preceded her in death on August 1, 2006. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, her twin brother, Robert Morrison, her sisters, Joann Morris and Frances Coffman and half-sister, Sandra Ball. Betty was a devoted mother and was employed by the Earlham Cafe as a cook and waitressed at Bentler’s Truck Stop near Earlham and DeSoto. She was also employed by Custom Printing and Mailing in DeSoto as a sorter. Betty loved cooking, fishing, dancing and watching wrestling (smackdown). She collected birds, kewpie dolls, coins, boxes, and purses. She also loved playing cards, cribbage, puzzle books and visiting and drinking coffee. Betty is survived by her three sons, Rick (Lyla) Dunmire, Dennis (Laura) Dunmire, both of Winterset and Howard Clayton of Earlham; two brothers, Phillip Morrison of Arizona and Terry (Connie) Morrison of Winterset; 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

Visitation: 1;00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, where family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. May 5, 2009 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, Winterset.

Service: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, Winterset.
