Neita J. Henry

Biography


Neita J. Henry, 89, of Red River and Albuquerque, passed away in Questa on September 25, 2014 of natural causes. Nieta, daughter of Raymond Morton and Flossie (Howell) Morton, was born in Fairview, Oklahoma, and made her first visit to Red River in the 1930s. She married John Lewis Henry on November 9, 1945 in Enid, Oklahoma and they had a residence in Red River since 1947. Toward the end of World War Two, Neita worked at Enid Army Airfield at the Flight surgeons office and upon marriage to John, was a homemaker and mother in Las Vegas, Raton and Albuquerque. Neita loved the mountains around Red River and was an avid outdoorswoman. She is preceded in death by John, her husband of 65 years. She is survived by their two children, son, John M. Henry (Laura Powers), and their two children, Sarah and Patrick of Hatch, NM. Sarah is married to Lyle Rodriguez and they have two children, Landis and Charles, daughter, Gail Buchanan (John Scott Buchanan) and their two children, Ian and Katherine. Ian has a son, Thomas.

Neita was loved and cherished by many and is at rest with her husband, John at the Red River Cemetery. Rosary was recited on September 29, 2014 at St. Edwins Catholic church in Red River. Funeral mass was held on September 30, 2014 at St. Edwins church with interment following at the Red River Cemetery.
