Mindy is one of my fondest memories of my year in the US after I had graduated from Oxford university. I was teaching philosophy at a college in Virginia, but was Greyhound travelling during the Easter vacation, and was visiting Taos. Walking back from the Mission Church, I was passed by Mindy in her car. She stopped and offered me not only a lift back to town, but, learning that I hadn't arranged anywhere to stay, took me back to her home, fed me, and then showed me round Taos, the tour including meeting a real, live cowboy (we don't have those in the UK!) and D H Lawrence's sometime mistress. It was an extraordinary and memorable day, and I have always remembered Mindy's kindness, enthusiasm and generosity of spirit, coming so completely out of the blue. She must be greatly missed by her family, and I should like to offer them my very belated condolences.

To Mindy's family -

It was a very sad feeling to read about Mindy.

Mindy and I went to junior high and high school together. She had a zest for life and was fun to be around.

I will nevre forget the friendliness and kindness your mother extended to me.

I want to share my sympathy with you.

Melinda,

I remember when we did the Texas tourist bit with Ariel for KTAO, watching "Aliens" at your house, eating your great oatmeal with raisins at the house on Canyon Road, waking you up at 6 am when you and Baby Ariel were trying to sleep. Reading your poetry, looking at the beautiful boxes you and Bobby made, knowing that a beautiful woman can wear mismatched socks in her boots and get away with it. I will miss you, and know Bobby and Ariel will too. Looking forward to seeing you and Brooke where the sidewalk ends.
