Biography
Maxine Egy, 102, of Winterset died Sunday, June 21, 2015, at the Winterset Care Center South.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 25 at the First Christian Church in Winterset with burial to follow in the Winterset Cemetery.
A visitation will be held one hour prior, beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be directed to the First Christian Church and/or the Winterset Care Center South Activity Fund.

Gertrude Maxine Egy was born January 29, 1913 in Cass County, Iowa; the daughter of Jay and Grace (Thomason) Painter. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1932 and later married Claude Egy in February 1935. He preceded her in death in 1986.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, where she was active for many years in various groups. She was also a member of the Good Neighbor Club. Maxine loved to play cards and was the last surviving member of her original neighborhood pitch group. She also enjoyed cross stitch, embroidery and doing puzzles. As a farmwife, she was always busy assisting with the day to day activities of farm life, gardening, canning, cooking and baking. All this said, Maxine was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved nothing more than time spent with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Baur of Johnston; two grandchildren, James (Peggy) Baur of Van Meter and Terri (Mark) Anthony of Maxeys, GA; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob, Matthew, and Nicholas Baur, Carson, Courtney, Mark Jr. and Kristen Anthony.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her sister, Myrle Painter.
