Maria Irene Vargas

Maria Irene Vargas peacefully passed away on November 24, 2011 at the age of 77 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She was born to Dionisio Vargas and Cayetana Banuelos on October 20, 1934, in Valparaiso, Zacatecas Mexico and was a longtime resident of Las Cruces, NM.

She is preceded in death by her father Dionisio Vargas and Sister in Law Josefina Garcia. She is survived by her mother Cayetana Banuelos of Mexico; her brother, Jose Guadalupe Vargas and wife Sarita; her sister, Aurelia Vargas of Mexico; her niece Maria V. Ovalle of Santa Fe; great niece Michelle Montoya and husband Samuel of Santa Fe; great nephew Major Pedro V. Ovalle of Navarre Florida; Great niece Fela Gallegos and husband Manuel of San Tan Valley Arizona, and Numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation and rosary were held on November 30, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on December 1, 2011. All services were held at Santa Maria De La Paz. Burial followed at Rosario Cemetery.

Pall bearers were Major Pedro V. Ovalle, Samuel and Michelle Montoya, Manuel and Fela Gallegos and John Hartley. Honorary Pallbearers were Diego and Christina Montoya, Isabela and Esperanza Gallegos and Audrey Hartley.

Irene will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial Service will be scheduled at a later date in Las Cruces.
