Lola K. Howell

Biography


Mrs. Howell was born in Madison County, Iowa on November 17, 1910; the daughter of Walter and Vergie (Seevers) McCorkle. She married Aaron Howell on December 27th, 1930 at the West Star Methodist Church Parsonage. Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, Kenneth McCorkle and his wife, Geraldene. Mrs. Howell was a graduate of Winterset High School. She taught country school for one year. She married Aaron while he was a student at Iowa State. Following his graduation, they returned to Madison County and began farming. She was a hardworking devoted wife and mother. She was a member of West Star Methodist Church until it closed, when she transferred to Worthington Methodist Church. She was a dedicated worker in the church. She along with her husband worked several years as a Lay Witness Missionary. She also enjoyed gardening. Survivors include three sons, Walt Howell and his wife, Nancy, of Earlham, Iowa, Duane Howell and his wife, Dorothy, of Greenbay, Wisconsin, Gary Howell and his wife, Deborah, of Mason City, Iowa; one daughter, Karen Van Essen and her husband, Norman, of Winterset, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday where family will be present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. January 17, 2007 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, Iowa.

Service: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 18, 2007 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, Iowa
