She grew up in Winterset and graduated from Winterset High School in the Class of 1964. Her marriage to Billy Wayne Rhoads took place on August 8, 1965, at the First Presbyterian Church in Winterset.
Linda was a homemaker all of her life, raising her children and later running a daycare from her home. She loved children and enjoyed taking care of them and she especially loved her grandchildren.
Linda was not one to join groups but found great joy in the care she gave to children. She enjoyed flower gardening and she loved her dog, Sophie, who was her special friend. Above all else, Linda loved her family and cherished time spent with them.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Laurie (Marty) Smith, Donna (Jeff) Jackson and Brett Rhoads (Vicki Morlan) of Winterset. She is further survived by a brother, Craig (Cherlyn) Ross of Des Moines; nine grandchildren, Heather (Trevor) Nelson, Jesse Smith, Abby (Jason) Brown, Brandon Jacobs, Virgil Blu Jackson, Nick Rhoads, Mallory Rhoads, Erin Rhoads, and Autumn Rhoads; two great-grandchildren, Quentin Brown and Alexis Nelson; extended family and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Sp sad to hear of Linda's passing. It just doesn't seem possible. Linda and I were classmates of the Class of 64. Our brothers were friends, going off to Coe College together in the fall of '59. It seems this brought Linda and I together a little closer back then. We hadn't spoken much since graduation, but I would think of her occasionally. Undoubtedly, she will be missed by her family. May the Lord grant her eternal peace.
