Biography

Joseph Aurelio Garduño, 90, of Arroyo Hondo passed away on January 21, 2018. He was a veteran who served in the Korean War and served as a Brigadier General. He was an author and enjoyed writing. His passion lay in taking care of people and animals. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ricardo and Senida Garduño and brothers, Henry and Telesfor Garduño. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rosie Garduño, children, Penelope Privette (George), Glenn Joseph Garduño and Michelle Garduño Lucero (Manuel), grandsons, Ryan Garduño (Melissa) and Christopher Privette, great-grandchildren, Chris and Alexis Privette, and Gracie Rose Garduño, sisters, Ether DeLeon, Brenda Ochoa and Berlin Padilla (Robert), many other relatives and friends.

Evening Service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 6 PM at Rivera Chapel. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 10 AM at Rivera Chapel with interment to follow at the Garduño Privette Family Cemetery in Arroyo Hondo.

Mr. Garduno's Family: My deepest and most sincere condolences on the passing of Joseph. I never met Joseph or anyone in his family, but I bought and read about three of his books. Our family is listed in one of his books. May God rest his soul, and may you find comfort in your precious memories of him.

I was saddened to hear of your father's passing. It was always a special day when he'd come by to visit and reminisce about the good old days, when he'd come to draw water out of the spring on my land. I have enjoyed his books. He would always bring doggy bones for my dog. I shall miss him and am very grateful that I got to know him and spend some time with him. Thinking of you! Annie James
