After completing service, he returned home to work in the family retail oil company. He attended auctioneering school in Kansas City, and became a professional auctioneer. In addition, his energy and charismatic talents led him to create a popular radio program that broadcast area news.
He had a family of four children with his marriage to Charlotte Markhan, before re-locating to Belen, New Mexico, where he worked in radio and formed a real estate company. He was also active in the Firehouse Theater Company. After moving to Albuquerque, he started a silk screen business known as, "Beetle Canyon."
John was preceded in death by his parents, James and Jeanette Maguire, sister, Caroline Maguire, and his son, Patrick Daniel Maguire.
Survivors are: son John Maguire, his wife, Jennifer, and daughter Lisa Starr, son Michael Leonard-Maguire, his wife, Darlene,.
siblings: James Maguire, Anne Maguire, Marion Menshek, Ellen Dyer, her husband, Jay, Janet Paul, her husband, Tom, Patricia Bowles, Michael Maguire, his wife, Rachel. Grandchildren: Nicholas, Tom, Josef, Miles, Guy, and twenty-six nieces and nephews.
He lived with his best friend, Millie Dew, along with Lucille, Carol, and Russell. They met while appearing in the play, "A View from the Bridge," at the Albuquerque Little Theater.
They traveled all over the country selling garments of various types with his magnificent animal designs and the stories that went with them. He always credited the faculty and staff at Los Ranchos Elementary for helping him create his business. They were always most generous.
He admired the beauty of the universe, especially, New Mexico. He was a man of the earth, who respected all living creatures and beings.
He loved feeding the birds out back, watching the cows, coyotes, and antelopes go by, looking at the beautiful sunrises and sunsets, sitting in the swing with dog, MacDog, gazing at the mountains, talking to the ravens, rabbits, and squirrels, and rubbing three-legged cat, Zorro, every morning.
Jack was most funny and loved telling stories, collecting books, and having those Friday Nite Margaritas. So! "Here's ta ye, Maguire.!
" You will be remembered as a bright, energetic, charismatic personality with love and the ability to create enduring friendships.
These are the gifts you left to us all. The light surrounds you forever. God's Speed!. You are a new star. There will be a, "Celebration of Life Party," this summer. In remebrance, please make a donation to a animal shelter.

The holidays don't seem as bright without Jack. I will miss his wonderful Beetle Canyon designs and stories. His large presence was only exceeded by his big heart. I will miss sitting on his beautiful veranda and sipping margaritas with him and Millie. Oh we had so many good times.

We are really going to miss you Jack along with the team of Millie and Jack. It was beautiful and we always had a blast with you guys. We laughed all the way home to Albuquerque. I love wearing your Beetle Canyon fashions and the stories that went with them; in fact I'm wearing the one you gave me this summer. You made me fall in love with cats. I now have three at home, and feed about 27 strays. I've told the cats all about you, and I feel like you're there with me.

I'm sure Jack brought a spiritual awareness to everyone he knew; he had such a solid, kind and knowing presence. We had a special connection through the white owl, and I am grateful to have known him and especially for all the years of love he gave to dear Millie.

Dearest Jack - I remember your gentle and sweet spirit and sharing margheritas with you and Millie AND guacamole AND champagne. I loved watching the sagebrush roll across outside the dining window as if a stagehand was standing to one side of the house and periodically throwing it across the window :) I cherish the dresses and cape that I have of yours and remember your quirky sense of humor. You gave me some great advice - "do it now". I miss you and miss thinking of you with Millie. love, Sherrylee

Jack, you are an amazing and interesting man, a man of honor and love. You lived your truth.

"For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?

And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that is may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?"

The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran

Go on wings of love!
