Biography


James ‘Jim’ Marvin Cornelison, 60, of Lorimor, Iowa died September 30, 2011 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 4th at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset. A visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m., Monday, October 3rd at Ochiltree Funeral Service, where the family will be present to receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Lorimor Cemetery, Lorimor. Jim was born September 10, 1951 in Osceola, Iowa, the son of Merrill and Patricia (Repplinger) Cornelison. He attended grade school at East Union and finished his education at Ft. Sill Army School, Ft. Sills, Oklahoma. His marriage to Norma ‘Gidget’ Nelson took place on February 20, 1977 and to this union were blessed with two children, Shannon and Matt.
Jim enlisted in the United States Army and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. When he enlisted he was a paratrooper and later transferred to the tank division. He was honorably discharged from service with the rank of Private Second Class in 1975.
Following his service to his country, Jim began a career in trucking. Currently he was employed with Double S Trucking in Avoca and had also driven for Hill Brothers and Werner Enterprises both of Omaha as well as Advanced Drainage Systems of Creston. He loved his job and being able to see the country side.
Jim loved the outdoors and took every opportunity he could to fish, hunt, camp or go boating. He was a friend to everyone, truly enjoying people and most of all he loved his family but especially his grandchildren.
Jim is survived by a daughter, Shannon (Ryan) Billheimer of Adair; a son, Matt (Heather) Cornelison of Fontanelle; and seven grandchildren, Cale, Clay and Finn Billheimer and Dylan, Emma, Gavin and Allie Cornelison. He is also survived by his siblings, Sandi (Wayne) Tucker; Allen (Nita) McKinney, Merrill (Sandy) Cornelison; special friend, Cyndi Torrance all of Lorimor; and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Cloyd and Ed McKinney; two nieces, Debbie McKinney and Kimberly (McKinney) Groth and a nephew-in-law, Nathan Groth.
