Biography


Harriett “Jeannie” Samson, 61, of Monroe went to be with her Lord, Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
A gathering with family will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2011 at the Warren Lodge in Indianola (1602 West 2nd Avenue) where a memorial service will begin at 2 p.m.. A meal will immediately follow the service at the lodge. Memorials in her name may be made to the family. On-line condolences may be made to the family at www.ochiltree.com.
Harriett Jean Power, the daughter of Donald and Wilma Jo Anne (Loose) Power, was born May 27, 1950 in Des Moines. Her marriage to John William Samson took place in Omaha on July 7, 1971.
She was a home health care employee working with the Jasper County Homemakers. She had also been a janitor working at the Monroe High School.
Jeannie enjoyed reading, collecting salt and pepper shakers and going to garage sales. She also enjoyed the company of her dogs, Cindy and Trinity.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, John Samson of Monroe; a son, Daniel Brady and his wife, Kim of Indianola; a daughter, Jennifer Cecil and her husband, Ray of Monroe; and four grandchildren, Tonya Cecil, and Dakota, Mickela and Alexandria Brady. She is also survived by two sisters, Margaret Goers of Monroe and Donna Kennedy of Knoxville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
