Gilbert Archuleta

Biography


Gilbert Archuleta, 88, of Taos passed away on December 23, 2010. He was a longtime educator with the Taos Municipal Schools. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps serving in Japan during WWII. Gilbert was a longtime member of the VFW and founder of the Taos County Schools Credit Union which merged with NM Educators Federal Credit Union. He was an avid golfer who competed for many years with the NM Senior Golf Association. He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Helen Archuleta, sister, Mary Archuleta, brothers, Bonnie and Frank Archuleta. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jane Archuleta, children, Gil Archuleta (Katherine), Hank Archuleta and Elen Archuleta all of Taos, Michael Archuleta (Sharon) of Yorktown, VA, brother, John Archuleta (Barbara), grandchildren, Arolyn Archuleta-Whitney (Paul), Jonathan Archuleta (Kelly), Wesley and Jazmin Winsor, Kyle and Parker Archuleta, great grandchildren, Zane Archuleta-Whitney and Ethan Archuleta and many other relatives.

Interment will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Taos on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 11 AM.
