Biography


George was born March 27, 1935 in Gallatin, Missouri, the son of Herman ‘Chuck’ and Cuma (Cox) Roland. He married Donna Lou Woods on June 13, 1953 in Gallatin, Missouri. George was a warehouse foreman for Ginsberg’s Furniture in Des Moines for many years, Charter bus driver and retired from Appletree Children’s Center in Urbandale. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 11, 2004 at the First Church of God in Lorimor where Pastor Ben Turner will officiate. A visitation will be held from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 10, 2004 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, where the family will be present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Lorimor Cemetery in Lorimor immediately following funeral services. George is survived by his wife, Donna of Lorimor; two daughters, Deana Rowland and friend, Neal Courtney of Lorimor and Cristi Hoakison and husband, Bruce of Lorimor; two sons, Todd Rowland and friend, Maria Daly of Lorimor and Scott Rowland and wife, Deanne of Urbandale; seven grandchildren, Kati, Drew, Christopher, Zachery, Shannon, Bryce, and Tanner. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Millie, Opal and Sharon.
