Garry Stramel

November 11th, 1939 - April 24th, 2017

Biography

Garry Stramel, 77, passed away on April 24, 2017, following a long and valiant fight with cancer with his family by his side.

He leaves in body, but remains with them in spirit, the love of his life, Mary Stramel (wife), married 27 years. He is survived by his children Stacy Gallegos and Scott Stramel, his grandchildren Beau Gallegos, Dr. Melisa Hockett, Adam Stramel and Moriah Stramel and his great-grandchildren Griffin, Aubery and Sterling. He is also survived by his sister Cheryl Dinwiddle (Jack), Sandra and Harvey Hopkins and many beloved family members and friends.

Born in Hutchinson, Kansas, he spent many treasured years in Santa Fe as a respected and successful businessman. Garry lived a life full of faith and love for his family.

Garry was fully confident, and would rather be away from this earthly body, for then he will be at home with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8)

Services will be held on Saturday April 29, 2017, at 10:00am in the Kiva Chapel of Light at Rivera Family Funeral Home (417 East Rodeo Road in Santa Fe).

In lieu of flowers, please consider remembering Garry with a donation to The City of Faith Christian Fellowship, 5312 Jaguar Dr., Santa Fe NM 87507.

My kids fell in love with him & the special bond he & Jayden had will never be lost or forgotten. We rejoice that he is on heaven with his Lord & Savior as our hearts ache for the loss of the most wonderful friend-tears are being shed daily knowing we won't get to laugh together. Mary. My heartfelt condolences go out to you and family. Garry was indeed one of a kind. During my lifetime I cannot recall more uplifting times than the time spent with Garry on golf outings to the U.K. and all over the U.S. He has had a major impact on my life was indeed an inspiration to everyone he came in contact with. He will be sorely missed by many but I take great solace in the fact that he accepted the ultimate outcome of his illness. Then in true Garry Stramel fashion inspired others with his incredible courage. There are few people that go through life who have given as much to other people, as Garry. Rest in peace my Dear Friend. We love you.

My family knew Garry for many years. We haven't seen him in a long time, but never forgot him. My mom and dad, who were special friends of his, have passed on and will be welcoming him home with all his other friends who have gone before. My husband and I remember him fondly as a guy who loved to laugh and was always the life of the party. He was kind and engaging and I'm sure is making everyone in his new spiritual home smile. What a sad loss. Our condolences and sympathy go out to the family who must go on without him. I'm sure they have many fond memories as we do. Godspeed Garry Stramel. Lynn Collins & Vic Fantozzi
