Biography


Edward D. Maestas, 66, a resident of Ranchitos passed away on March 12, 2013, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jose and Ida Maestas, wife Sherry and brother Joey Maestas, also by his horse Rags.

Edward retired from the State of New Mexico where he was an accountant. He was a former City Councilor. He was an entrepreneur and enjoyed his retirement spending time with his horses, cars and going to the casino.

Edward is survived by son Eddie and wife Priscilla Maestas, daughter Valerie Maestas, grandchildren Eddie Jr., Mia and Jonah, mother of his children Mary Ann Maestas, step-daughters Latisha (Tom) O'Dell and Kerri Justin) Armstrong, step-grandchildren Dylan Anderson and Thomas O'Dell, favorite uncle Lee Espinosa, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives.

A visitation and rosary were held on March 14, 2013 at the Rivera Family Funeral Home Chapel in Espanola. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on March 15, 2013 at Santa Cruz De La Canada. Interment followed at the Holy Cross Cemetery. A luncheon followed at the Beatrice Martinez Sr. Center.

Pallbearers: David and Dominic Gonzales, Leo Marquez, Angel Valdes, Chris Ortiz and Andrew Chavez.

Honorary Pallbearers: Eddie Maestas III, Dylan Anderson, Thomas O'Dell, David Chavez, Lee Espinoza, Andrew Dominguez, George Maestas, State Senator Richard Martinez, Mia Maestas, Jonah Powell, Joey Maestas, Eddie Maestas Jr. and Andrew Dominguez.
