Biography


Dwight was born May 20, 1939 near Macksburg, Iowa to George and Mildred (White) Letz. He graduated from Earlham High School in 1958. His marriage to Rosa Lea ‘Mickey’ McDonald took place on September 23, 1961 at the Church of Christ in Earlham, Iowa. They were blessed with two children, Traci and Chad. Dwight died Monday, May 7, 2007 at the Madison County Health Care System in Winterset. He was 67. Dwight was career military serving in the United States Air Force for 21 years working in recruiting, personnel and base career advisement. During his career Dwight was stationed at several locations around the country until his retirement in 1982 as a Master Sergeant in Abilene, Texas. He later moved to Winterset in 1990. He was a devoted member of the Church of Christ in Earlham and also attended services at the First Christian Church in Winterset. Dwight was a member of Kiwanis and the Jaycees. He was a loving husband, father and a caring grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Service: Dwight is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mickey Letz of Winterset; a daughter, Traci (Letz) Donald of Abilene, Texas; a son, Chad Letz of Shawnee, Kansas; three grandchildren (Justin Farmer, Peyton Oles and Alec Letz); two brothers, P.D. Letz (Susan Collins) of Iowa City and Larry Letz (Wilma) of Spencer; and two sisters, Francine Pierce of Van Meter and Margaret Caskey (Mike) of Windsor Heights. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Frances Gowen.
