Biography


Dennis Hiatt, 70, of Lorimor, Iowa died Monday, March 11, 2013 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
Services will be private and burial will be in the Hartman Cemetery near Truro. Memorials and condolences may be made to the family at 815 1st Street, Lorimor, Iowa 50149. On-line condolences may be made to the family at www.ochiltree.com.
Dennis Dwight Hiatt was born September 18, 1942 in Red Oak to Dwight and Helen (Murphy) Hiatt. He graduated from Truro High School in 1960 and went on to serve in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. His marriage to Suzanne Courtney took place in Creston on September 9, 1965.
During his working career he was employed by Armstrong Tire Company which became Titan Tire and he retired from there after 29 years. Later he worked for Osceola Foods for several years. He was a member of the American Legion at Lorimor and the Masonic Lodge of Truro.
Dennis enjoyed his family, friends, fishing, trains and his dog, Willie. Dennis was also a licensed pilot and he loved to fly.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Suzanne Hiatt of Lorimor; a son, Chet (Ginger) Hiatt of Truro; a sister, Penny (Eric) Schaffer of Truro; a brother-in-law, Donn (Judy) Courtney of Lorimor, 5 grandchildren (Ashley, Cody, Wade, Cheyenne, and Mandy); 2 great-grandchildren (Bailee and Mariah) and a nephew and 3 nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Wade Hiatt.
