Cheri was the best co-worker and friend anyone could ever have. Over those many years, we developed a real rhythm; a kind of shorthand. She knew what I wanted and needed even before I did. We did some amazing work and made a huge difference in the lives of teachers and students . . . and we managed to have fun while doing it. But what's more, we shared life's ups and downs - the graduations, the birthdays, and all of the other milestones. And no matter what, she was always the first person there to lend a hand or give support. I will forever cherish those memories. I wish I could be there to say good-bye in person.

Cheri had a smile and kind word for everyone. She was a natural helper -- reaching out a hand to anyone who needed a little extra encouragement, help or pat on the back. She never asked for or sought the spotlight...but she sure made all the others around her look good. After being lucky enough to work with her for almost 20 years -- I will miss her quick wit, her laughter and her kind words. Please know that you're all in my thoughts and prayers. Cheri was such an important person to our work at ISEA in advocating for public education professionals. Her talent and expertise in organizing events, communications, and materials were amazing. She always had a smile and a hug for me. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers. I am confident that Cheri's soul is among the Angels.

I did not know Cheri well from high school (I was in the VHS class of 1971) but believe she was in the band? But I have had numerous times to chat with her at the ISEA conferences in Storm Lake. She will certainly be missed. Barbara (Steen) Burgess
