Beatrice (Shapiro) Buchbinder
September 18, 1919 - January 26, 2012

Beatrice Shapiro Buchbinder, 92, peacefully passed away on January 26, 2012, in Santa Fe, New Mexico, with her sons at her bedside. Bea was born in Bayonne, New Jersey, to Miriam and Bennett Shapiro, and grew up in Bayonne along with her five siblings. She married Robert Howard Buchbinder in 1941. She lived more than 35 years in Roselle, New Jersey, and was employed in the Roselle Public Library, and, later, the Linden Public Library, retiring in 1987. She lived many years in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she was a member of the Har Zion Congregation; and lived the recent 4 years in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Bea is survived by her sons Richard Buchbinder of Scottsdale, Edward Buchbinder of Santa Fe, and granddaughter Emily Bronkesh-Buchbinder of Los Angeles. She is also survived by fifteen nieces and nephews, many cousins, and a very close, loving circle of friends.

Bea was predeceased by her husband, Robert H. Buchbinder, and her siblings Ellis Shapiro, Melville Shapiro, Gertrude Bristol, Edith Brinker and Francis Madasz.

The memorial service was held on January 29, 2012, at the Beth Israel Memorial Park in Woodbridge, New Jersey. Following the ceremony, friends and family were received at the home of Bobbie Schick Rubin in Highland Park, New Jersey.

The family suggests that memorial donations be sent to Har Zion Congregation, 6140 East Thunderbird Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85254.

Bea was such a lovely lady--very "refined", as my Mom would say!
She was sensitive to others, always tried to be positive in every situation and I never heard her say anything negative about anyone! She was a wonderful role model and she will be greatly missed by many!
