Biography


ALICE M. MATURIN

Age 61, passed away early Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at her Santa Fe home following a lengthy illness. She was born June 12, 1951 in Raton, New Mexico, the daughter of Emma and Eli Martinez Jr.

Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Ricardo Maturin; her parents; and brothers: Robert and Richard Martinez.

She worked for the New Mexico School for the Deaf, retiring after 27 years of service.

She is survived by her brothers: Ronald Martinez, Anthony Martinez and wife Annette; sisters, Stella Chavez and husband Freddie, Barbara, Anita Halbig and husband Randy; her children, Manuel, Graciela (Ricardo), Lynn (Paul), Juan, and Annette (Keith). Also surviving her are very special grandchildren: Andres, Victoria, Elijah, Kameka, Maria Elva and Kiara; many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and other extended family.

Her family extends their special thanks to the New Mexico Cancer Care Staff, Chemo/Radiation Departments, Dr. Kathryn Chan, Dr. Donald Shina and the staff of PMS Hospice. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in her memory to the New Mexico Cancer Foundation, 4901 Lang Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109.

A Memorial Service was held on September 28, 2012 at the Rivera Family Funeral HOme Chapel. Burial followed at he Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

We are so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She fought a valiant battle against her illnees, showing us all how to live each day, as it is a gift. Please be comforted because she no longer suffers in this world but delights in the next. Blessings during this time of profound grief. Know you are in our hearts and we are praying for you and your family. Also know that, you were a true blessing in her life, providing comfort in her toughest times. We love you.
