Salazar cousins,
I send my sincere condolences to all of you. I enjoyed my visits and many telephone conversations with Cousin Albert. It saddens me to think that on future visits to New Mexico, he won't be there. I will continue to cherish the photo of a handsome young man in a Navy uniform, standing next to an automobile on the side of an Alamosa road, along with a beautiful young wife holding their firstborn in her arms, and expecting their second-born. What a lovely couple they were, Albert and Connie.

The passing of Uncle Al is a great loss to our Salazar family. I remember that he loved to sing at family events and liven things up. I liked to hear the stories he used to tell about his father, the grandfather I never knew. He often called me "hita" and I liked that. I shall miss him very much.

Al was an incredible help and support to me while I was chairman of the Foster Grand Parents / Senior Companions program in Espanola... his wisdom and incredible way of showing honor and respect was truly an inspiration. His advise was always spot on and timely. He seemed to have a gift of looking through the dust to see the bright solution. I wish I as closer to home to be there to say adios! My deepest condolences.

My children met a man who was both strong, caring and loving. Al made them feel really at ease around him. No he did not sell me my 1st car, but did teach me a lot of music which I wiil always remember [e.g., "Mariquita Linda," "Your Are My Sunshine," and valces while I play my violin for him -- he really loved that! My sons, Eric & Zach, also had the opportunity to play for him at his home. We also took many wonderful photos of Al.
