Leonardita "lala" Vigil

Leonardita Lala Vigil, 102, of Cundiyo, NM died peacefully on November 12, 2011. She will be dearly missed by her family, many relatives and friends. Tia Lala always served and helped her family. Later in life she worked for other families as a housekeeper and child care in Espanola, Santa Fe and Los Alamos. She was a member of Holy Family Parish in Chimayo and Santo Domingo Mission in Cundiyo. Although she was an Auntie, she was really a Grandma who always had her table ready with food and goodies for all. She was preceded in death by her parents Jose Simon and Beatris Vigil, sister Eremita Vigil, five brothers Tomas, Damacio, Elias, Liborio and Emiterio Vigil, her nephews Ernest Vigil who lived with her and Gerard Vigil who helped with her care. She was also preceded death by her niece Martina and nephews Toby and Rudy Rivera, Roger and Michael Ortega, and Lorenzo Vigil. She is survived by her sister Gabrielita Ortega and family from Chimayo, Celina Rivera and family from Nambe, sister-in-laws Amelia Vigil and family, Martina Vigil and family both from Cundiyo. She is also survived by many nieces & nephews, and great nieces & nephews, who all loved her very much.

A Wake Service was held November 15, 2011 and the Funeral Mass was Celebrated November 16, 2011 both at Holy Family Church in Chimayo. The interment was followed at the Santo Domingo Cemetery in Cundiyo.

Pallbearers will be Bobby and Emit Vigil, Leo and Harold Ortega, Gilbert Rivera and Tom Ortega. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Montoya, Brian vigil and all her nieces & nephews. Rivera Family Funeral Home of Espanola.
