I went to Parsons with David and he was absolutely the most hilarious and fun person I have ever met. Creative, funny. Loved animals and making art. Been casually looking for him on and off for years and shattered to hear he’s gone. Goodbye, David. I’ll never forget painting a tree and a dead chicken fluorescent green with you for a project and your laugh.

I met David when he was a child and his dad was alive. I lost contact with the family when I returned to Tennessee. I am sorry for the family's loss.

I'm not a friend or a family member, I was one of David's first clients. David was the most compassionate, relaxed, amd professional therapist I'd ever worked with and I can say beyond a shadow 9f a doubt that he saved my life and I will be forever grateful to him. My deepest condolences to family and friends, I just thought you would like to know how deeply he touched at least one life and the profound differance he made. For whatever else he may have done or not done... he did a lot of good and that's what I will remember of David.

David was such a close friend, confidant, companion. We were besties for 12 years, and even in our busiest times we would get together at least once a week for a meal, to watch a show, and to share our latest stories, hardships, laughable moments....we cherished our time together, this "friendship haven" where we could dump out everything in our hearts and listen. He was the one I would run to with my grief and disappointment, he was my bright side. I trusted David without reservation, and he never let me down. During the hours, days, now months after his death, I have been at a complete loss for who I can run to now. To David's mom: you raised a kind, solid man, more insightful and compassionate than anyone I've ever known, including myself. I thought I had a monopoly on grace and kindness, until I met David and learned how much further I had to go. I will never see the world and it's people the same for having known David Burks. I am forever changed.

So sad I cannot be there today. I loved David very much. We met in 1986 at Parsons. We stayed I. Touch over the years and I actually got to tattoo him a couple years ago. He and I loved to laugh and listen to music and see art. He was a great man. So sorry about recent events. My condolences to his family and friends.

My fondest memories of David are of breakfast club on Sunday mornings with Sara and the Halloween parties at David's house. He worked so hard to make them fun for all. Whenever I go to a garage sale or thrift store I will always think of you. This Sunday for breakfast I will have an American cheese omelet with hash browns & grits with whole wheat toast. Rest in Peace, Cynthia
