PEARL DANZIGER BOMSE

A Memorial Service for Pearl Bomse will be held on Sunday, April 10, 1:30 p.m. at Temple Beth Shalom. Pearl died November 24, 2010, at 92. Pearl was born in New York City to Yenta (Yetta) and Sam Danziger and lived there until moving to Santa Fe in 1990. She worked as a bookkeeper and office manager. Through careful investing and saving, Pearl raised her family from poverty. A New Deal Democrat, Pearl supported immigration, civil rights, feminism, reproductive freedom, and gay rights. She believed education and hard work were keys to success, and was willing to help anyone sharing that view. Pearl was outspoken about her liberal opinions. The New Mexican printed many of her letters to the Editor. She was an expert knitter who enjoyed complicated designs and created many sweaters, scarves, and hats. Pearl is survived by her son, David; daughter-in-law, Claire Romero; granddaughters, Lauren Bomse and Sofia Bomse; sisters, Anne Carroad and Shirley Weiss; brother, Alan Danziger; eight nieces and nephews; and ten grand- nieces and nephews. Her husband, Marc Bomse, preceded her in death; as did her parents and sister, Minnie Meyers.
