OCTAVIANA RAEL CHAVEZ, 100, of Santa Fe, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2015. She was born July 24, 1915 in La Cienega, NM, the daughter of Antonia C De Baca Rael and Leonides Rael. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Esequiel Chavez; her son Leroy Chavez; her brothers, Arsenio. Alberto, Alonzo, and Leo; her sisters, Eliza, Maria Pita, and Rosanna.Mrs. Chavez is survived by her son, Father Patrick Chavez of Santa Fe, her sister-in-law, Patty Rael, and numerous nieces and nephews, and her special care giver of many years, Rosa Hernandez.A Rosary will be recited at 9:00 am Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church, where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday. Interment will follow at the San Jose Church Cemetery in La Cienega. Pallbearers will include Tony Sisneros, Bill Botwora, Ed Mier, Ray Martinez, Jerry Greigo, and Robert Griego.Her family is requesting memorial contributions be offered in her name to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Soup Kitchen.
