John "Mac" McMillen

Mac had a hard outer shell as anyone who first met him would agree. Once you got past his shell he was a kind hearted generous soul who would never let you go without, and held you in his heart as family. Mac was a high school football star, a fisherman and the local mail man but his most proud achievement was his service in the army. The man could cook too and loved to cook for his friends and family. He would be the first person to drop what he was doing to come and help when you needed it and would never accept any kind of repayment, he was just that selfless. He will be missed by all of us that had the pleasure of knowing him as our friend and family. He leaves behind his 3 Siberian Huskies, Mia, Nikki, and Sierra.

Thank for keeping me safe for about 10 years & many camping trips...taught me to shoot.....many family gathering....best cook ever. We chose our babies together "Mya" "Nikki" "Sierra" precious puppies...now 10, 8, ,6. I missed them terribly while helping my aging mother. I promise to keep them together loving them to the end returning them back with "YOU". Thank you ....never thought it would end so soon

April Schmitt published a tribute .

Mac had a beautiful funeral today. All of his wonderful co-workers came and sang "Amazing Grace". Phill Romero was part of the legion riders that escorted him to the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Jack and I will miss him terribly. He was a dad to us for many years. It's a sad terrible day. And I want to thank everyone that came out to say bye to Mac. I still don't want this to be real. I don't want to say BYE.

Even thought Mac claimed coffee was a communist plot to over throw America he still got up first to make a fire and have a pot of coffee brewing for everyone else on our many camping trips.
