She often gave us a hard time but always said it was to teach us to be strong in life. Perhaps now without her in our lives as well as without Pop-O, those lessons will come to fruition.Corina was born in Cerrillos NM and raised in Santa Fe. She married Martin F. Martinez in 1941. They first lived in Dawson NM and moved to Santa Fe in 1946 where she was a housewife and raised six children. As a wife of a World War II Veteran, she had great love and respect for our nation and all of our Veterans. She was an avid bowler and served as an officer of the Santa Fe Bowling Association. Corina had a love of gardening and taking road trips with her beloved Pop-O to see the family. The grandchildren will forever remember those infamous road trips; all packed in a station wagon! Those were the days. We are proud and honored, and most of all blessed to have had such a kind, strong, and colorful woman in our lives. For our family it is truly and sadly the end of an era. We have been blessed to have had these gifts in our lives and will forever hold her close in our hearts as we learn to live without the thread that stitched us together. The family would like to extend a VERY special THANK YOU to Elinora Martinez who spent the better part of her life devoted to the care and happiness of both Mom-O and Pop-O; additional thanks go out to family members LoraAnn Lovato, Andrea Batista, Michael Batista, Ronald Clement, Veronica "Carla" Martinez, Jacob Brito, Robert "Beto" Martinez and Carmela Aldeis,; to Presbyterian Hospice Services, to Dr. Kurt Kasteindeck, to staff at Christus St.Vincents; friends and other family members for their contributions in Mom-O's time of need.
