Carmelita Ortiz

Carmelita P. Ortiz, of Santa Fe, passed away suddenly Thursday, January 29, 2009. She is preceded in death by her husband Jose A Ortiz, parents Jose Perea and Francisca Davies, granddaughter Roberta Ann Ortiz, grandson James Ortiz, sister Lucy Narvaiz, sons-in-law Nate Benavidez and Christobal Montoya.

Carmelita was born in Santa Fe on September 19, 1913. She married Jose A. Ortiz on April 1, 1934 in Santa Fe. Carmelita was also a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

She is survived by children John Gilbert Ortiz, Maria Tomasita Benavidez, Frank Ortiz and wife Angie, Felix Reyes Ortiz, Lorraine Ortiz and companion Carlos Gallegos, Raymond Ortiz, Elizabeth Benavidez and husband Tim, Chris Ortiz and wife Elena, Eddie Ortiz and companion Clara, Sally Ortiz and Lucille Montoya, and sister Carol Quintana. Carmelita is also survived by 35 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

A Visitation will take place from 3:00pm to 5:00pm Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Santa Fe Funeral Options Chapel.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm Sunday, February 1, 2009 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 2, 2009 at 9:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will take place at Rosario.
